Greetings all you Cross Racers out there! The Seattle Cyclocross Series is continuing the tradition of requesting course clean-up volunteers. The organizers of the series work long and hard to find and prepare venues and put on a most-excellent cross series for us all but they need our help at the end of the day. If your team is interested in helping with course clean-up after one of the 7 series races, let me know! As in the past, I try to sign up at least two teams for each race so that the work can get done quickly and easily. If you are not on a team but want to help out- just zap me an e-mail. Better yet, just plan on staying after for one of the races and lending a hand.

It’s clear that leaving the venues in as good condition as possible plays a big part in returning to that venue the next year. For this and many other reasons, SCX appreciates the help teams and racers provide for this task!

Contact Debbie at debdriver@yahoo.com to let me know if you are interested and/or if you have any questions.
Cheers!

Let Russell Stevenson prepare you for the coming Cyclocross season. This is a basics course that covers the fundamentals of Cyclocross. Each week will be a progression of the previous. Attendees are encouraged to sign up for all 4 classes for maximum benefit.

Ideal participants are Entry to Sport level, male or female. Other ability levels welcome but the class will be focused on the basics: Barrier Running, Mounting and Dismounting, Bike Shouldering, Run-Ups, Cornering and Bike Handling.

Mark Thursday – August 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th from 6pm to 8pm on your calendars. For more information, please visit http://www.cyclingnorthwest.com/2010/07/cnw-cyclocross-prep/

Riders will do 7-10 laps of a 2 mile circuit that’s 1m chipseal and 1m hard doubletrack. There is a short, rough climb of about 200m.

Most participants of cross racing in the northwest have noticed a conflict of dates on Nov 14 for the different Seattle race series. After conferring with Shimano regarding their new Shimano West Coast race series we have decided to not hold conflicting races. The first year will have races in San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. Due to our belief in the goals Shimano is trying to set, we here at Seattle Cyclocross will not have a race on Nov 14. The folks at Shimano have a laudable goal and we do not want to interfere with their vision. Due to the Nov 14 ommision, we are currently in the process of revamping the entire fall schedule, please watch the site and get ready for the season. As an aside, the San Francisco race will be in Golden Gate Park—if you can make it, the course is very nice.

Seattle Cyclocross is a non-profit organization that brings cyclocross racing to you every fall, and through cycling and your generous support of our series, we are changing lives. This year we were able to give over $15,000 aimed specifically to kids, through our contributions to various charities, programs, and by re-investing back into the cycling community.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” – -Winston Churchill

Our donation to this remarkable organization totaled more than $7,100. And a special thanks goes out to the junior racing teams Rad Racing, 20/20 Fuel and ASC Racing who combined raised an additional $2,140 for this remarkable cause.

Major Taylor Project - Funded by a supporting grant from Cascade Bicycle Club, Major Taylor clubs aim to reach young people of all bicycling skill levels who are interested in joining a bicycle-riding club and have a demonstrated need for increased out-of-school-time activity, mentorship, social support or physical activity. The program integrates bicycle riding, community service, healthy living, fitness, safety, and bicycle maintenance, and road safety awareness.

Greater Everett Community Foundation – Serving families of Snohomish County and helping them to improve their quality of life.
